About us... The Beach Book is a local Dare County business committed to helping our local residents, visitors, and business owners alike. Our office is located at 1518 S. Memorial Blvd. in Kill Devil Hills - feel free to stop by if you have any questions, concerns, changes to a listing, or would just like to pick up a copy of the book. We also encourage ideas from our community on how we can improve better server you. The publishers and staff of the Beach Book are pleased to present our 16th edition. We hope you enjoy this issue and find the directory even more useful than ever.  About the cover...Each year we host a cover art competition along with the Dare County Arts Council. The winner is selected by an independent panel of judges and graces the cover of over 60,000 Beach Books. Congratulations to our 2008 cover winner: Marcia Cline About Marcia... Painter Marcia Cline was born in Maryland in 1961 and moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 1981, where she has been rooted ever since. Cline has painted since childhood and finally settled down to it seriously after receiving her BFA at UNC Wilmington with an emphasis also on printmaking and batik. She has also studied under influential painters and keeps up with workshops locally and abroad. Marcia’s work graces numerous restaurants and businesses, and homes from coast to coast. Her medium may vary, but the work is recognized and typified by vibrant color, movement, and apparent love of nature in all it’s forms. She has a husband and two young children, all who are her greatest teachers. Cline also loves to travel, surf, and her recent lifeline is yoga. Cline feels truly blessed and grateful for any opportunity to paint. Her work can always be seen at the John Silver Gallery in Manteo, and the Down Creek Gallery in Ocracoke, as well as the New World’s Festival of the Arts in August each year.
